The Massive Urge to Update
I just had an incredible urge to finally update my LJ and catch up on my friends list. Yes, I've been neglecting LJ and while I miss it, I don't regret spending less time in front of a computer and more time with friends and family. This was mostly due to all the work I undertook and not having my laptop the entire summer! That said, here's a quick update of how my summer went:
*Went to Boston with Eric (will post pics later)
*House and cat sat in the village.
*Milo grew!
*Finished my internship at the Cancer Research Institute. They threw me a going away party which was cool. But then again, there was always an office party every week.
*That same day, I interviewed for and got a position as a research assistant at the Columbia Med. School working in the Anatomy Department. (I started work today and got a horrible paper cut!)
*I undertook a position working for the Prez of a non-profit arts program that brings Music, Dance, Theater and Art to public schools. The guy I work for is extremely laid-back and cool for a President of an organization.
*Eric went to Russia and the Ukraine to visit family for 2 weeks and I couldn't go!
*I met an EXTREMELY weird guy who answered a Craigslist ad of mine for work as an Office Assistant. I think I've officially met someone who has a serious case of a form of psychosis. Sadly, I'm not exaggerating and thankfully, I did not get the job.
*I did massive dorm room shopping at Ikea. (Will post pics of my room later...it's small but cute)
*Eric helped me move into my new dorm. I have a great view and my suitemates are really cool.
*I had a huge family reunion gathering at my house. It really made me appreciate my family and their amazing accomplishments.
* I started my Senior year of college!!
*Had my first day of work student teaching at the Barnard Toddler Center with 1 1/2 year olds. It was wild!
*I bought my 1st bottle of wine on my own since turning 21!
*I started babysitting Noa and Eli again and found out I'll be babysitting all evening on the 19th because the Dad was nominated for an Emmy. Ugh!
*Words cannot express my thoughts on the Hurricane Katrina issue. America's initial response was disgusting.
*I have registered to see and hear the President of Iraq speak at Columbia this Saturday.
* I have yet to find another class to take this semester and time is running out! Ahh!
That's the last 2 months, summed up. I'm very nervous about this, my final year of college, and my grad school plans as well as my financial situation after I graduate. I wish to become more involved on campus and explore fun, new things. I have no meal plan this year so it's all about grocery shopping now and being more independent. It will be an interesting year!
And now I'm off to do some homework...
