Soooooo much has happened! It's been almost 2 months since my last update. That's quite a bit. I think I was getting addicted to LJ. I got so caught up in other's lives I started to forget about mine a little. So much is going on with me, my friends and my family.
In short, I'm 21 now (May 14th was the day), I had a great birthday (Eric took me out to a play). I went to a bar, tried the liquor store thing, but it's not me. An occasional glass of wine or a martini is good, but I should probably lay off it for health reasons anyway. I moved out of the dorm: very hectic! I will miss my huge dorm room. My nana's been in and out of the hospital and it's got me very worried. Very worried. So, I've been pretty frazzled about that too. One of my friends recently told me some shocking news about something she found out, so I've been trying to help her with that too. My laptop broke, and I'm waiting to get it back. I've been seeing docs for various stuff including a physical I need to work at the Toddler Center next semester. And to top it off, my mom broke up with her boyfriend of over 13 years....yes, you heard me 13. Could be more. Why? Can you guess? He obviously had some commitment problems.
Eric and I are ok. He cut his hair, which was disastrous for me at first, but I kind of like his short hair now. We've had fun going to the beach, the park, botanical gardens, restaurants, watching movies, teaching me to drive, and such, but now we're both going off to work this week: He to a computer-savy summer camp as a teacher and counselor for programming and game design and me to the Cancer Research Institute on a paid internship in the immunology grant program. This adds to my hefty list of jobs: I still work for 2 psychologists, the pesident of a cosmetic company and oh yeah, I'm a mystery shopper. The jobs are enjoyable.
I house/cat sat for one of the Psychs on the 3rd in her Greenwich Village apt. while she was in the Hamptons visiting the other psych I work for. Then, I took Eric out to dinner at Houlihan's for a free $65 meal and bar visit while I evaluated the place. For the 4th, we went to South St. Seaport and watched the Macy's fireworks really close up.
As for today, I went shopping for some work clothes. I got 3 snazzy dresses, 2 pairs of shoes, a purse and a dress top. Dressing the part is a must for this job. I'll be working in the heart of midtown where everyone seems to drive black and silver Bentley's, BMW's and Lexuses (or is it Lexi??). While I'm excited to start work for such an amazing organization (they are developing a Cancer vaccine), my summer is shot. I don't know how I'll still fit fun in. I start tommorrow. I need to get a good night's sleep!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and I look forward to catching up on everyone's lives. :o)
P.S. Check my Summer Photo Album!!!
Carnegie Hall before I classical concert I saw in May.
Eric with long hair in a pony tail...in my bra.....maybe it's a good thing he cut his hair!
Geese in Prospect Park in Brooklyn. Eric and I are having a picnic with food I made!
Eric with short hair at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.
Me at the Botanical Gardens...
Oh no! It is about to rain at Brighton Beach. Maybe that's why Eric looks so weird.
Me after driving in Floyd Benett Field where they dumped a pile of sand and seashells for me to collect and play with.
Again on a top of a pile of sand!
Eric and Me on the pile of sand. Aww.
The cat I cat sat for: Ms. Buffy. A very pampered lil kitty.
Fireworks in South Street Seaport. The Brooklyn Bridge is partially blocking our view.
That is all for now. Oh yes, these images are hosted on a webpage I tried to make on my school's server. When will I have the time to updat that...I'll never know. Take care!
