When I walked out of the T station today after work, back out into the sunshine as it was getting ready to fade back into early evening, there was a guy standing there on the brick. He was waiting for the guy walking in front of me. He wore a black buttoned shirt, held an H&M bag, the guy in front of me wore baggy khaki cargo pants, had hooped earrings in both his ears. They wore glasses. Both kinda nerdy, both pretty normal. Then they leaned in, and kissed each other, and turned to go home.

They didn't hold hands or lean too close to each other as they walked and I tried not to stare at them, not being able to hide how happy it makes me. That subtlely mature, quick display of affection. It being so okay. So normal. So great.

What I really kept thinking about was the look on the guy's face, the one waiting, when he saw the guy in front of me walk out the door. That smile that just automatically happens, every time, especially when you've been waiting. Oh hey. There you are.
