Little known fact: the University of Iowa Library has one of the largest collections of fanzines.
I didn't know this until Sydney launched herself at me when I was visiting the bookshop last week. She works in special collections and told me there were thousands of Kirk/Spock fanzines from the '70s and '80s. Thousands. I don't really ship it, but old school slash culture? Very relevant to my interests.
So I took a bunch of pictures of the zines with my phone (oh, how technology has changed). I could have scanned them, but that took so long and even I have enough shame to feel weird about scanning drawings of Shatner's penis on public computers in front of respectable university students.
That's right. Shatnercock.
The first cut is full of the drawings. The second cut is the ridiculous text. The images are kind of ginormous and in no particular order, but I'd say they're worth it. I went through about thirty different magazines, all for your entertainment, LJ.

1979, you guys. Imagine how much time and effort and money went into printing hundreds of copies of these 300+ page magazines of K/S porn. Next time I whine about how much effort it takes to write an LJ post, someone show me one of these babies.
