Holy crap!

Holy crap! A journal entry! So, I moved to a townhouse and I theoretically live alone (with my chinchillas) but in practice there is usually some additional human here. Most often Joshua. Still, though, I love alone and it's freaking awesome! I am still working on umpacking but once I get that done (and make a trip to Ikea), I'll be having a housewarming/bonvoyage (my trip to asia, again) and maybe Independence Day party. After the defeat of the so called marriage amendment (it was really an anti-marriage amendment) I think we have a reason to celebrate America. The first for a while now, to tell the truth. But, if anyone is gonna read this I have a question to pose. If you could think of one idea, policy or change that would, in your opinion, make the greatest positive impact on our great nation, what would it be? For me it would be cutting almost all funding to "The War on Drugs" and putting that money in more deserving places. I actually think $40,000,000,000 (yes thats billions) is a LOT of money and we have budget problems. We cannot afford the police, court time, jail space or paper waste to lock up a single drug offender if there are rapists, homeless children or illiterate americans. That money is simply needed urgently elsewhere. For those that would argue that drugs and violent crime are a join issue I would argue that I never said cut funding to stopping violent crime and a lot of the crime is because the drug is illegal. Some of it would dissapear if we stopped caring so damn much. Ohter drugs, like herion and alcohol, cause crime because they so either so addicitve no person can support an addiction and a normal job (to pay for the addiction) or they cause some violence in the way users react to them. But note, the latter drug being one of the most commonly associated with both purposeful and accidental violence (fights, car accidents) is not a target of our drug war. We need to realign our crime and budget priorities. Although doing something to re-quarrantine the church from the state wouldn't be out of line either.
