Desert Adventures
I was part of a party hunting in the desert. We were chasing a force down, but I, and my pet were lagging behind the main group. My pet was a giant wolf/bear thingy. The desert was blasted and lumpen, not quite flat but not yet rolling hills. We were travelling so fast that we weren't taking the time to look behind us. The main group passed a trio of small blue goblin things, hidden behind some fabric walls staked into the sand. They started firing arrows at the group but my pet and I took care of them. We moved on, but my pet was intensely interested in an old rotting log 1/2 buried in the sand. I took a look, and it was a passageway down into the sand. We cautiously went in. Giant insects lived in burrows dug into the walls, and they shied away as we went past. Further down the spiralling rotting wooden tunnel we went, when a giant snout pushed it's way through the walls and startled us. My pet sniffed it and ran away, and I did too when I realised that it was the beginning of a massive giant beetle. But as I ran, I caught a glimpse of my friend, stuck down there and unable to escape. Which was really strange as if my friend was down there, who was I travelling with. The friend that I was travelling with apologised and said that she wasn't really there, she was just an illusion to stop us rescuing the real friend, and she vanished. With that my pet and I headed back down. I had no idea how we would kill that giant beetle thing, but we didn't leave our friends behind.
