So apparently, american high school students are lagging behind in science.

"Everyone from President Bush to Gov. Bob Taft has warned of the need for more rigorous science for U.S. students."

So can anyone explain to me why they're not denouncing teaching intelligent design? Seriously, let's increase the rigors of our science program by telling them to doubt something they've been taught, teach them some vague theory about God having created you from dirt (and how are we supposed to do that without religion entering our public schools?), and publicly ARGUE - LOUDLY - about what they should learn and whether it's important for them to know that your parents religious beliefs are more important than you being able to get a job or hold your own in a global economy.

I really wonder how anyone can expect today's students to want to learn with all that crap going on in the background.
