Oops! Took forever!

I sorta forgot about this, but, here we go! Souha's questions!

1) Wtf is your icon supposed to be XD
-It's a shot from Shaun of the Dead. While he's planning what to do, all of the ideas feature a montage (which get shorter and more hurried) and all end with them drinking something. The first one is Shaun drinking coffee from a mug that says "I am a Genius." God, I <3 that movie. Hardcore.

2) Have you been trying to learn Korean lately (over the last few years, we'll say)? If so, have you succeeded? Is yo mama helping you? If not, are you going to someday? Is it important for your kids to know Korean?
-Over the last year, I've gotten really close to the Korean community at WSU, and have picked up some. Outside of that, I've been using Rosetta Stone, watching dramas, listening to music, and learning hangul (the alphabet). I'm not really good, or even passable, but I've gotten a lot of piecemeal stuff and have caught on pretty quick. My mom helps when she can, but she's so busy and it's just easier for us to communicate in English. But yeah, hopefully I'll be fluent when I have kids, and I'd love to pass it on.

3) What's your 5-year plan?
-This is sort of a tough one. I'll be finished with my degree this year, so a lot depends on where I go for my masters (which I will get!). The dream right now is Seoul National University, but I'm applying to a list of pretty well known schools, hoping that my work outside of class will set me apart. If not, WSU will pretty much insta-accept me, and there's been talk of a TA position from at least two professors. It wouldn't be bad to stay here, either. I'm a research assistant for one professor and the faculty all know me pretty well, so I'd be able to pursue my own research with a lot of support. After that, on the the Ph.D level somewhere. I'm hoping to ride the path to professor and ethnographer, but some of it is still so far away and uncertain, heh. But, even so, I'm not sure where I'll put marriage and what-not in. I'd like to be established in my field before I settle down with a family, but as there are no real prospects, not something I have to worry about!

4) What do you do in your spare time these days?
-Research, mostly. I'm presenting at the American Academy of Religion in November, so I need to become an expert by then, heh. But I drink a lot of coffee with friends, been playing Rune Factory (finally), and watching Korean dramas, heh.

5) What personal qualities do you like most about yourself?
-I dunno, I like myself pretty holistically. Right now, I'm really into my blossoming as an anthropologist. But, given some things that have happened lately, I've recognized that I'm a pretty honest chap, willing to take what comes with it, ya know? Tied into that, I've been pretty open and ready to help out some friends. I know it's not this huge deal that makes me stand apart, but I'm glad that people trust me with it, if that makes sense. I guess it's because it says that I must be doing something right, heh.
