OMG, Yuletide nominations
Nominations of fandoms and characters are open till 9pm, Eastern US time (ETA, on Oct 3rd!). How can it be so late in the year already?! Anyhoo, my rather late cogitations are:
When William Came, by Saki - Alternate!WW1, Britain living under Hohenzollern rule, apparently odd goings on in the rest of the British empire! (Why's Canada the only part of the empire with naval power, then? How come the German navy may be able to blockade Australia if shipyards there get into production? What do other imperial powers think about all of this?)
Hut 33 - hapless codebreakers in Bletchley Park! enigel has nominated four characters (Charles, Archie, Minka, Mrs Best), I could nominate Gordon and Josh (and Marianne, probably, and - hmmmmm)
RH+ - crime-fighting vampires! Their human sort-of boss! True, awkward vampire-human love! (Nominating Kiyoi, Michitaka, Ageha and Makoto)
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - aliens, hitchhiking and jokes about digital watches! Oh, Arthur, oh, Ford.
Other possibilities: Valley of the Bees - Teutonic Knights in manly chaste lurrrrve! Hold hands nakedly in the sea some more, Brothers Ondrej and Armin!
Sophia McDougall's Romanitas trilogy - the 20th century Roman empire!
"Sredni Vashtar" by Saki - it's creepy enough as it is - surely it could be made creepier? Or crossed over with other Saki stories or with The Secret Garden or something?
Thoughts? Last minute nomination plotting?
