Ok, so you may gather by that that I'm a wee bit stressed out. I'm doing my best to be methodical about all my various preparations but sometimes find myself standing in the middle of my living room, pulling at my hair and just paralyzed with indecision. There are so many things that need to get done, but an order in which I can do them, and it's freAKING me OuT. Not to mention my A/C unit broke on the weekend and I had to wait till yesterday to get a replacement. However my BOE did come through and I'm finally cool again.
In the meantime I'm finding making time to enjoy being on vacation - sleep-ins and tv-watching binges (my current obsession: MasterChef: Australia) and doing a final collage for the school.
Aaaaand, as you may have heard, there was a
total eclipse of the (don't say heart don't say heart)
sun today!! I had forgotten all about it till Megan emailed me a reminder, and then I sprang into action to jury-rig up a
pinhole viewer out of leftover packing materials. Mine was pretty tall and periscope-like, and I looked ridiculawesome, standing outside with it. It's been rainy all week and very overcast today, so at first I was disheartened, assuming the eclipse would be completely clouded over. But! As I stood there peering into the view-hole I suddenly saw a fingernail-shaped sliver of light dance across the paper and there I was, watching my first ever eclipse. I ended up standing outside for a full hour, watching it slowly change shape. I've never used a pinhole viewer before and was amazed that not only could I see the eclipse, but I could actually watch the clouds passing over the sun, like a tiny little movie.
I also brought my camera down and managed to get some pretty good photos of it too. They don't look like much, but I am right chuffed with myself. And even more so, to an astronomical degree (heh, seewhatididthere) when, after having uploaded them I came back a few hours later and saw that
one of them is actually currently featured on the
Flickr Blog!!! Eek!
So, I'm still having low-low points, but the high-highs are pretty great.
