working late tonight, which is always fun.
Actually, I love my day job. I write end-user documentation for high-precision measurement hardware, the sort of stuff that Rolls Royce uses to test jet engine part tolerances. My company does R&D for our Japanese parent company, which arguably makes the best high-precision measuring instruments in the world. And it's a good place to work -- probably the best day job I've ever had.
Okay, enough with the advertisement...
I've been thinking about it and I don't think I'll be at the writing get together tomorrow. I'd like to, but coupled with the case of nerves (for which I could always take a xanax) is the simple fact that my week would be much easier if I didn't. I need to get things ready for the SCA event this weekend (May Crown). I'm not going (and am happy about that) but T is, and so things need to be gotten together. The storage unit hasn't been dealt with since last fall and it's a mess, with everything jammed every which way. It's going to take a fair amount of archaeology to get the tent and all the gear out of it. I'd rather spread that work out over a couple of days rather than trying to do it all in one day.
Reorganized my desk at home yesterday -- I now have a desktop set up again, and a decent monitor. Actually, the monitor far outclasses the PC, which is a few years old and running XP. But it's good and solid, and that's all I need for writing. And no internet connection, which is a major plus. I can get all of that I need from my laptop. Maybe I'll take a picture of it or something.
Still trying to decide if I want to try Scrivener or not. I've heard good things about the mac version, and I've looked at it, but haven't used it enough to tell whether it's a good fit or not.
