Okay, so here's what i wrote yesterday. I must say, that it's extremely long, so unless you're truly bored, i suggest you pass this one and read it another time. And it was late. So gramatical mistake, please forgive.
Saturday 7th October 2006
Actually, it’s Sunday, just having turned 12 am. Bah! I’m so tired and exhausted. Today has seriously been the longest day of my life. It has been the longest, yet it has been really good and heaps of fun, so I guess I can’t complain.
So, today started with Uncle Liau’s funeral at the funeral parlor. The service was about 15 to 20 minutes long. Then we all headed to the Fremantle cemetery where we walked with the cortege and hearse to the East Chapel where he was cremated. It was really sad but also, really joyful, knowing that he’s in a much better place than us. A place without pain and disease, where affliction cannot touch him. Almost makes me jealous. But I love life, and should not be asking God to take me back so soon. I’ve only just realized how cool and how inspiring Uncle Liau is. I mean, I never took notice before, and I never do, but he was just all out for God. Sure, he had his moments of pride and over-zealousness, but he was just so passionate for God and saving the lives of other people. He has his own book entitled Effecting Soul Winning Ways or something similar to that. He is, quite the cool. I have also learnt that he is really generous and loving. Always giving and thinking of others before himself. So if I’ve learnt anything from Uncle Liau’s death, it would be that we have a lot to learn from the elderly, that we should have a giving heart, and that I shouldn’t be so blind or cynical (is this the right word?) towards elderly people.
Today, I also met most of the Liau family and so, yeah, have made a bunch more friends, which is really great. And so Uncle Liau’s death has also brought the family and everyone closer together.
So after Fremantle, we all adjourned back to the Liau residence for some light refreshments. There were Miss Maud pies and sausage rolls, sushi (which I tried for the first time today thanks to Brian), ham platters, cheese platters, breads and all these awesome “light refreshments”. Yeah, I had salmon, tuna and eng sushi. It was… interesting and not bad I suppose. Considering it’s the first time I’ve ever had sushi. So anyway, we ended up staying for the whole day. Meandering around the house, inside and outside, talking with Marxha and Abbey and Brian and Matt. Then we came to the conclusion and went to the Snooker Lounge. And we actually played snooker for a change. All the Yr 10’s were there playing Silkroad, some lame online game, and cs. So yeah, I told Paulo that school started this Wednesday. Will be interesting to see. After about an hour of playing, we went back to Uncle Liau’s place and played cards and sat around and basically did nothing. In the last few minutes, we played bluff - both the Australian and Malaysian way. Geez, that was confusing. Oh yeah, I also lost two rounds of snooker, and won 1 round. Well, first Brian sunk all of his balls, and I still had 4 to go. So then we decided to switch balls so I only had to go for the black ball. In the end, I sunk it, but that was after he sunk the rest of my balls and so we just kept hitting the ball around for another 5 rounds. Sad really…
Then all of a sudden (not really, more of a crescendo of impatience that was building up), we decided to go to the Royal Show, being the last day and all. It took some convincing for me to go. I mean, there isn’t much to do there. Rides and showbags and that’s about it. But I went anyway. Tim drove me and we all posed as high school students so that it was only $10. Then we all split into groups and went our separate ways. Josephine, Maybelline and Trisha, Matt, Abbey, Marxha, Brian and I (and Tim) and Uncle Patrick, Aunty Li Tho, Alex, Tristan and Darryl. So yeah, we walked around. To the showbag place. We bought this insane chocolate bunny for $50. It was apparently reduced from $125, but I think that they just wrote that to get into our minds. And Matt didn’t even haggle. But anyway, we had this huge bunny this on hold for us. Then went to the rides and sideshows. Me and Brian went on the Nitro. Some crazy swinging, spinning pendulum. My head hurt a bit after. Then had some chips to eat. Found Tim again and met up with Uncle Patrick, etc. Marxha and Matt went on the Powersurge. I think it malfunctioned or something, cause they were stuck up at the top for about 2 minutes. Matt was freaked and absolute shat* himself. Hilarious nonetheless. Then we all went to see the fireworks. Ate pork ribs, courtesy of Tim and Uncle Patrick. I also won this stupid bear thing from this stupid side show. You had to hit this ball down from an air vent or something, three times in a row to get the major prize. Lame! Also, we got CONNED!! By some really lame, tightass guy. You had to throw in this ball into a buck without it bouncing out. Matt tried about 2 times, and then the guy raised the stakes. He said that if we all paid $10, he’d let us have 5 tries. If any two were successful per person, he’d give us all $60. None of us did it. He always tried to distract us and crap. So in the end, we lost about $90. Thus, if I ever see that guys again next year at the Royal Show, I will seriously punch the living daylights out of him.
So yeah, then met up with Aunty Pauline and left. Headed to the Liau’s again in Tim’s car. Went through Port Beach and stuff. Long drive but got home in the end. Then we chatted with Marxha’s and Abbey’s friends on MSN. Then Abbey couldn’t be bothered talking to John, so we all pretended to be some other guy who hacked her account and was interesting in going out with John. Hilarious as he was all… “Right… interesting. Sure. How old are you?” Punk’d!!
Yes, so that’s my day. It has been a really good day. Under normal circumstances, it would’ve been really dull and boring, but predictable. But today, playing by ear, has been exceptional. Oh, and did I mention that we went to the show while still in the clothes we wore to the funeral? We looked all so formal and stuff. The lady at the counter, when we bought our entrance tickets, was surprised that Brian and I were high school students cause we looked so much older. Haha, we could have gotten away with anything… So now it’s 12:22 am. I need to brush my teeth, pray a bit, and then sleep. Oh, and church tomorrow at 9:00am. I am definitely NOT driving!
So now it's 5:54 pm on Sunday. Just got back from a disasterous day at Freo. Still feeling tired and now a little sick. But maybe that's for another day.
