Birthday Letter to my eldest grandchild

Nov 03, 2010 19:00

Wow, 14 years old.

I miss you terribly.  I love you.  I love my memories of you as a little girl and sweet pictures abound in my head.

I cannot find a path that leads me to you, but if I knew how to be in your life, I would move heaven and earth to be there for you.

Life is sometimes very difficult and it takes years sometimes to figure out how to manage different situations.

Your parents both love you.  Each is trying to go through life the best they can, even though they both seem to feel cheated by the way things have turned out.

You are a beautiful girl and smart from all I have heard.  You excell at dance and volleyball.  And life holds great promise for you.

You are angry with me and don’t want me to come to your events.  I can respect that to a point, but it makes me very sad.  I still need to show up from time to time.

I want you to find happiness in life.  You have love all around you.  From family and from friends.  You have my love, even though I cannot tell you in person.

At this stage in life, as you gain freedom, you will make mistakes.  Usually we make the most mistakes when we are starting to learn about life.  Hopefully when you realize you have made a mistake, you will take steps to adjust.

Remember that LOVE is the road that leads to happiness in life.  If you give love, then you will get it in return.  The perfect love of God is what we strive to achieve. Although it isn’t an attainable goal, it is something to work towards.

Happy Birthday K.  I hope the day brought you love.

grandchildren, love
