I am getting ready to get busy on my current Christmas project and if I don't hurry it will be Easter before I am done.
I just erased a good long paragraph about all the work I did around the house this weekend with little help, because you might have fallen asleep reading my tirade.
Let's just skip that and talk about my project. Which is to add to my collection of homemade, recycled Christmas stockings. I have made 10, but still need to finish up with grandkids etc. So 6 more. The fabric is cut out but now, what do I decorate them with.
First I had to clear up the matter of whether they would be wanted or appreciated by the receivers. I almost dumped the whole workload when Des said that was my tradition and not theirs. Just not a good meeting of the minds. She might have wanted the stockings but didn't understand I was making them to give them and not to leave them at my house. I have already been through that with the X who returned the ones I had made for her, M and the 2 kids they had at the time.
Gosh I can't seem to get past this stuff. So, sorry. I keep slipping into my best whiner mode this Monday.
One last thing.... Last night Dunk and I sat out on the kitchen deck under the overhang and enjoyed the quiet and the lighted tree we had worked so hard on during the day. It was about 6 p.m., dark and rainy, but it was still pretty warm and a welcome retreat.
We had one of my favorite easy meals last night. Pasta & shrimp alfredo sauce from Bertolli's. But I took some of my irritation out about no help from the kids by chopping up some of the shrimp in little pieces so the kids would accidentally eat some. Kind of sneaky, but not if I have to construct their dinner. Whine....whine....whine.
Okay. Here are some pictures of my project. The ones I made in the past plus the new fabric combinations.
The first 5 stockings were made from old skirts of mine or my sister in law. But I have enjoyed searching out different colors at the local GW (good will.) I just love the pink combination in the middle. Can you see the plaid in the pink.
