Rain, blessed rain

Apr 27, 2020 11:06

After a day and night of pure allergy hell today I am finally breathing a bit easier again, because at 3 am it started to rain. Nature and I are infinitely grateful.
A few pictures from my Instagram post this morning :)

The flowers are beautiful. Are the masks just for in shops and on buses and trains or do you have to wear them on the street too?

Only in shops and buses/trains. That is why I can't understand why people are so hysterically against it!

You've got rain?! Send some over. Our new garden looks like the Gobi desert. Where the dog walks, clouds of dust obscure the sight.

I am so laughing about the social media wank on "OMG MASKS! Where do we get masks! Nobody could possibly know we'd need masks!!!11!elf!!11!" Honestly, people, you've seen Chinese people wearing masks since January. You've seen developments move in the same direction here. It's coming as much as a surprise as xmas does every year.

The rain hadn't even been announced! When I woke up around 3 am I though I was dreaming when I heard the soft patter on the garage roof.. I had to open the window to realise that it was true!

I really can't understand these people. Some atavistic fear of bankrobbers?

I really don't know! "You cannot force us", "you are taking away our human rights", "it's like in the GDR". Goodness, people, you have No Idea what it really is like to be in an autocracy. Get a grip. Or a tin foil hat.

People are behaving the same way over here. It is really tiresome. I don't want to wear a mask and would like to resume my normal life, too. I also would like to see this thing under control, so....we do what we must do.

I hope we'll get some rain as well ... didn't really look like it in the forecast yesterday.
Glad to hear your allergies are doing better.

Yeah people ... what's that got to with civic rights? Huh?

Really. It has become a major issue, truly.

Ha, I was just coming on here to write about an encounter I had with someone over masks! They were bitching about how uncomfortable they were, etc., and I was like, "I just survived three months of pneumonia and have chronic hyperventilation syndrome and you ain't seen me whining." I literally cannot wear a mask for more than 10-15 minutes before I start having problems (one of which is the onset of tetany, which occasionally gets so bad I can't move... hasn't happened from wearing a mask yet but I've gotten to the point where my fingers start cramping & holding a shopping basket is tricky) so I just don't go out as much and do curb-side service, etc., when possible. If there's a store that requires masks and doesn't have curbside, I either run in very quickly or send Mark.

I try to be patient. I am probably far more informed about the realities of a severe respiratory disease than the average person. But I'm also like fam, I can't even sleep with a thin blanket near my mouth please stop telling me about how inconvenient this all is.

oh no, that sounds horrible! I can well understand you get angry with people who are just whining because they are uncomfortable! For me, wearing a mask during allergy time is actually positive, because I am not constantly wheezing and coughing from the pollen. I don't like the feeling of something on my face either, never have, but if it is necessary, we do it, hoping it helps to improve things all over!
