13_fears Sniffling, the youngest Petrelli curled on her side. She was six years old, and all of her siblings had fallen asleep long ago, but not her. No, Elena was focused on the shadows and their malicious approach toward her bed as the storm raged outside. She whimpered aloud when her door cracked open, cowering under her blankets as someone approached her bed.
“Shh, darlin’, it’s just me. You’re alright,” came the low, gruff voice that had grown to mean safety and comfort to the young girl. His weight sinking onto her bed made the mattress creak and groan, but this time the sound was welcome. Scurrying from under those covers, dragging one with her, Elena rushed into the large, warm lap, burying her face in Logan’s chest and clinging to him, even as his arms wrapped tightly around her small form. “Relax. It’s just a storm, kid.”
She shook her head vigorously, looking up at her ‘uncle’ even though she couldn’t see; his facial hair scratching her face told her she was looking in the right direction. “It’s scary, Uncle Logan,” Elena whispered. “There’s stuff in my room, and it’s gonna get me!” She was obviously terrified, but a kiss to her forehead relaxed her.
