"Put your shoes on, put your feet on the ground..."
So, since my last entry I've spent almost every evening after work (oh, got a new job, it's pretty great.) -stalking various forums and websites - learning everything I can about 1:6 scale figures, etc. I finally ordered my first figure- i'll post a pic at the end of this - and I'm probably going to order about half of that welding stuff seen in the previous entry. found it broken down on another website, so I can order just the pieces I want. My first objective will be to make a welding shop to scale, which will probably end up being like 3 feet long and about 20" deep.... I've always had this vision in my head of making a welding shop scale model, and I have a bunch of things in 1:87, or HO scale, the stuff people put around model railroads... but I've always felt like my hands aren't steady enough for details that small. 12" tall figures will give me plenty of room to make custom pieces for this model. I'm so ridiculously excited. It's good to have my creative wheels turning again.
Interesting tidbit: I'll be making a lot of the custom pieces for the welding shop..in an actual welding shop. My new job and boss are awesome, and he's already given me the A-OK to work on personal projects after hours. First project will be making a steel welding table to scale, which will make it about 8x12 inches... going to be a pretty sturdy prop. I'll use this LJ account to start posting things as I make them. or maybe I'll start a new account just for this stuff....we'll see. Anyway, here's the dude I ordered. He's being shipped from HONG KONG. It's supposed to take a couple of weeks I guess. Antici...........pation.
