Writer's Block: First and only
I perused some of the other answers, Some are valid in some ways some are just a joke. There are two movies that should never have been remade because they cannot be remade. Perfection cannot be redone.
The first is "Citizen Kane", No one could ever duplicate Orson Wells' performance.
second is Frank Capra's "Its a wonderful Life" Capra had a way of using lighting like no one else. The way he used a fisheye lense and shadows allowed Jimmie Stewart to portray emotions without uttering a single word. No other could duplicate the skill of Capra as a Director or Stewart as a man on the edge.
