we dug and planted a garden at the remuda. beans, cucumbers, jerusalem artichokes, from seed. tomatoes, peppers, marigolds (for pest control), from starts. we also planted summer squash but have seen nothing of them. the plot is roughly ten by ten ft and surrounded by a fence we built. this is made of some orange plastic construction netting, t-posts and ocotillo stalks, with a barrier at the bottom consisting of lumber we salvaged from the rio grande village boardwalk. birds kept eating our young seedlings until we put some netting across the top. our current chief pest is bermuda grass.
it has rained a lot lately. everything in the desert has really come alive, much as peter frampton does.
