Everybody VOTE, people!

As my mother always says, you have no right to complain about politics if you do nothing to participate in them. Unless you're a convicted felon or a child, voting is the bare minimum of that participation. She pissed off her father to no end from 1976 to 1980, because he, who absolutely despised Jimmy Carter, had forgotten to vote. She, a big fan of the prez, simply told him, every single time he started to complain or discuss politics, "You didn't vote. You don't get to talk. Get back to me in 4 years."

As to the question of who to vote for, I'm not going to try to change anybody's party identification in 50 words; all I ask is that you look to people whose vision of America includes a belief in the common good, something that has sorely gone missing this last decade or so. If our leaders don't invest in the potential of this country, why should we expect it to be around in any worthwhile form 50 years from now?

Off to walk to the polls. Who's with me?
