Yesterday I met up with
my_name_is_anna and company and followed the
Better Haringey trail, all twelve miles of it, in a circuit around the borough. There were picturesque parts (the Parkland Walk, Queens and Highgate woods, Alexandra Palace, Tottenham parish church and cemetary) and there were some very ugly bits (erm, that would be al the other parts of Tottenham then). There's something very satisfying about walking around in a big circle, it makes no sense in the normal travelling sense of getting from A to B, but its good. There were lots of cheers when we got to the part where we'd started off from just as it got dark. It took us five and a half hours in all, but that was pretty much walking non stop, there were some quite sore legs when we got to the pub, but Anna gave us all a badge as a reward for our efforts so that made it all OK.
A funny moment when I got home, I'd got ready for bed, rubbed lots of muscle rub cream onto my ankles which were really hurting by this point, and I was just settling under the covers with my book, when I saw a pile of DVDs that needed to be returned to Blockbusters in the next ten minutes. So I had to put my coat and boots on over my pyjamas and hobble down the road to return them in time, and then hobble all the way back again. People in passing cars presumably thought that I'd escaped from a nearby home for the insane.
I have given in to the evil Murdoch empire and signed up for a
Myspace page, I couldn't really avoid it anymore. Friend me if you wish, just so that it looks like I have some.
