Having Saturday off makes this feel like a three day weekend. It's rare. Our big project, the one that started night shift, is on hold for at least one month. The end-user has accumilated a large inventory. Production is being scaled back to zero. February will be a slow month, no overtime, plenty of free time.
I took a bike ride Saturday up to the ASU campus and to the pub for lunch. It was great. The weather is fabulous here, unlike the frigid eastern half of America.
Speaking of snow, yesterday was Jeffrey's 21st birthday, the anniversary of the frozen night he was born in our snowbound house. I blogged about it not long ago.
Tempe is a bike friendly city. You must be alert when driving, pedestrians and cyclists are everywhere. The pub has many bikes racks, often full. After a dozen oysters and a couple of pints I cruised the campus. I've driven all around the ASU area in my Jeep, up and down every street, but I've never entered the walking areas. I did not realize how nice the campus interior is. The walkways were uncrowded on a Saturday, great for a biker.
I don't have any big plans for my free time but it will be nice to have daylight hours on weekdays to get small chores done outdoors, cleaning the pools, trimming the plants, blowing leaves, and leisurely things like taking a bike ride, walking the dog, or writing in my blog.
It appears LJ is losing more bloggers. I don't know what I'll do. I suspect I will find another place to write my inane thoughts-of-the-day. I don't know if I'll take my monkey theme with me or leave it to die with LJ. I don't see myself spending the time to transfer my LJ content to another blog site. I don't believe there's anything worth saving. A blog post is a snapshot of that time, events, what was on my mind on that day. That time has passed.
I've had no desire to blog this month. Except for the Tucson event there have been no pressing ideas, no inspiration, nothing to launch my ranblings. So, there's no hurry to find another place to write.
I have read and commented on many blogs of LJ friends. As you find other places to write I will miss your offerings. I don't have a large F-list but I do appreciate those I have. There's a reason I friended you so I keep reading, and commenting when the urge strikes. I just haven't the urge to write my own.
Maybe the time on my hands will change that, or maybe not.
