Character Information

General
Canon Source: Elemental Gelade.
Canon Format: Manga.
Character's Name: Idui. (Iritique Rodui, also spelled Heritic Lodui.)
Character's Age: Unspecified in canon. Looks about 6, acts older.

Conditional: If your character is 13 years of age or under, please clarify how they will be played.

Although Idui looks to be a very young child at about the age of 6, canon information implies that she's actually probably much older. She's an Adel Raid -- a humanoid capable of turning into a powerful, supernatural weapon, as well as being able to cast some small-scale magic spells for the purpose of self-defense. Seeing as an Adel Raid who's actually 300+ years old can look about 15 or 16, it wouldn't be a stretch to say that Idui would be at least in her teens, in terms of how old she's been alive. She also seems to have worked as the weapon for a high-grade assassin for quite some time, and is very accustomed to bloodshed and violence; she'll have no qualms about protecting herself by any means. And though she acts childish and on impulse, she does seem to have more life experience than she looks like she would -- she understands the concepts of responsibility and threats and death, and is probably quite capable of taking care of herself.

What form will your character's NV take?

Something like a miniature iPhone. She needs something small and easy to handle, that her stubby little fingers can grasp.

Abilities

Character's Canon Abilities:

Idui is an Adel Raid, meaning she has a partner-activated skill set, and a solo skill set.

Her partner-activated skill set normally consists of finding a pledger, whence she can transform into an [ immensely powerful hugeass sword ] (god knows how she turns into a sword that looks bigger than her normal body mass) that heightens the wielder's speed, shoots bolts of dark energy, can be magically charged to chop down buildings, etc. etc. In her world, Adel Raids are hugely prized as weapons, and even amongst the Adel Raids, Idui is a special, strengthened type used by an elite organization -- she probably ranks high up there in terms of destructive power. As long as she can find someone she trusts and resonates with, she'll be happy to provide these powers for them to use.

All Adel Raids also possess a small set of solo skills, mostly for the purpose of self defense. These are nowhere near as powerful as the skills that are available once an Adel Raid finds a pledger, but they'll do in a pinch. Although Idui's solo skills aren't clarified in canon, they'll probably be simple things like turning a small area dark (so she can scamper to safety) or sending out a circular blast of dark energy to push any threats away. Nothing powerful enough to kill, but good enough to temporarily cripple an enemy.

Weapons: None. She is one.

History/Personality/Plans/etc.

Character History:

Nothing much about Idui's history is clarified, and it's dubious that Idui cares about it much in the first place -- she’s not the type to keep things like that in mind. All she knows is that she was always a weapon of the organization called the Orga Knight -- she was always a Dark-type Adel Raid, and a powerful one at that, and thus, she was considered a valuable resource and was assigned to one of the fighters. She knew little of the organizations intents or purposes, just knew that, if she didn’t fight well, she’d be “disposed of.”

Her history probably went something like this:

An Adel Raid isn't always lucky enough to meet their ideal pledger right off the bat. So Idui was, at first, given to a less-than-perfect user. Things went wrong. Usually a miscalculation by her pledger, or some other disaster unaccounted for. Things just never went well, and she was often blamed for it - the pledger would say, “This Adel Raid isn’t any good, it’s her fault, get rid of her!” And she was too young to fight back, didn’t know the right way to rebut these unjustified accusations.

Until, Gladias, one of the newly-promoted agents and without a fighter, offered to give her one last chance - “I feel that perhaps her Pledgers performed rather poorly, and I may be able to better employ her strength,” - and she was given one more opportunity. Which was a wise choice.

She and Gladias made a near-unstoppable combination - deadly fast, powerful, merciless - and although Gladias was known for being cold, heartless, cruel, he was always kind to her - it seemed things were going well.

Until, well, as Gladias said - “things never went well for long.” They were assigned to the retrieval of the legendary Adel Raid - and murder of her pledger. It seemed an easy job, at first, it always did, but then the tables were turned - even their best couldn’t defeat the unleashed power of the legendary Adel Raid, and they barely escaped, Gladias badly injured and Idui clinging to him, pleading, “Gradiash, don’t die, don’t die.” They barely made it back to the base of the Orga Knights when they were betrayed. By who? It was hard to tell. All Idui knew was that Gladias was pinned to the wall with a dozen spears of light - he was probably dead - and that she had a spear through her stomach. Dying. Dying.

Funny, that.

Next thing, she was waking up in Siren's Port.

Point in Canon: After volume 11, post-death.

Character Personality:

Well, there's not much to say for a brat, eh?

Take one look at her, and she's just your typical kid, really. Short attention, funny lisp, a penchant for shiny things, and a fondness for small, cozy places. Give her a candy, she'll take it happily. Give her a crayon and she'll doodle all over the wall. Show her a little cat and she'll hug it and cuddle it and hold it tight. Sure, she might have this strange aversion to the light and enjoy curling up in little dark nooks like a wild animal, but with the way she'll stuff a too-big cookie into her mouth and say "it'sh yummy!" she doesn't look like much more than your regular brat.

But see, maybe it's not that simple.

Because, back before she ended up here, she wasn't just a kid, she was a weapon that was used to kill countless people, and it shows. Those doodles on the wall, they look suspiciously like decapitated and dismembered stick figures, the way she holds that cat looks dangerously similar to a strangle-hold, and the way she smiles? Yeah, it holds hints of threats there. Talk to her more, and you start seeing it, that weird double-edged part of her.

She knows where you need to stab a person to kill them quickly, where to hit to put them in pain, where to slice to cut their tendons apart and bring them to their knees. She loves stories of carnage and violence and blood, she loves hearing about all the new murders and fights and deaths going on around her. And physical abilities, oh boy, she’s tiny, but she’s better than she looks - not strong, but fast, animal-quick reactions, here one moment, gone the next - and, of course, she’ll be looking for pledger, so that she can properly fight again. “Idui wantsh to fight, too,” she’ll chirp, tugging at your sleeve.

It's kind of like she's a little kid who was raised under bad circumstances and just doesn't get what's so wrong about violence and bloodshed. She's happy and chirpy and energetic -- the type to crawl up your pantsleg, up your back, onto your shoulder and babble at you from there, talking about how she found a little kitty and talked to a weird guy and ran away from a bad man -- but the way this cheerfulness carries over into her attitude towards violence and brutality is probably what makes her a little unnerving. Sure, she's cute when she hides under your chair because she doesn't like how bright the room is, and tugs at your pants hem asking if you have candy, and rolls around the floor with the fake devil tail attacked to her clothes flopping around at her feet -- but you probably wouldn't want to watch the way she says, "why ishn't that man dead?"

Though, get past her child's mentality, and her greatest strength would be her loyalty. Although she’s awfully flitty when you don’t know her, once you’re friends, she’ll trust you and do anything within her power for you. And if you’re her pledger, it goes even further - someone she’s acknowledged as her pledger is someone she will do absolutely anything for - even stay by them to the death, as was the case with her last pledger. She'll gravitate towards people who remind her of her last pledger -- he was a cruel man, but terribly kind to her -- and she'll tag after them, hoping that maybe she's found a new person to follow.

(And then maybe they can go fight togther.)

Character Plans:

Well. It's not like Idui's cut out for any massive, dramatic, romance-filled plots. But she's basically a twisted kid in a dark and strange setting -- she's bound to find plenty of things interesting. Especially all the strange, non-human beings from various worlds. No doubt she'll spend lots of time scampering up people's clothes and asking them what they can do? (And picking their pockets in search of candy.) -- also, it would be amazing if she could find another Pledger, so she could show her true potential as a weapon. Maybe she'll find someone she can trust like that.

VIDEO.

[ beep! transmission starts -- with the display upside-down. The screen shows the (upside-down view of the) top of the head of a tiny little kid who looks to be seated on the roof of some building. Stubby hand groping over the screen, she pauses before mumbling to herself, ]

Idui never ushed theshe thingsh before.

[ a pause. she puts it down on the ground, peering at it from above, using her tiny arms to prop herself up. the newspaper she's plopped onto her head for some reason starts to slide down, so she promptly adjusts it, making sure it covers her. then, she says, loudly, ]

Where ish thish!

[ brief pause. then she adds, ]

Third Person Sample

Despite the fact that the last thing she remembered was dying, pinned to the floor by a spear of light through her little body, Idui woke up. But more important than the fact that she woke up was the fact that it was bright. Too bright.

"Aaaah!" Voice escaping in an alarmed squeal, she immediately shot to her feet and went scampering on all fours in search of somewhere dark. She was too disoriented, though, her little limbs aching for some reason, and she spent a good three or four minutes (too long! too long to spend in the bright open air!) running in a lopsided circle before managing to find her balance -- and she promptly went shooting under one of the nearby benches. It was only when she'd comfortable huddled in a ball next to one of the support poles that she finally stared at her surroundings. -- this was -- one of those places where people played that sport. Baseball? Something like that. She'd seen it once before.

A pause.

Then she rolled onto her back, peering at her stomach. She was pretty sure that, just moments ago, she'd been speared against the floor, but nothing was there. No injury, no rips or tears, no blood.

"That'sh shtrange." Another pause. And then a small yelp, as she scrambled back on all fours. "Gladiash-shan!" For a brief moment, she looked like she was about to go scampering out from under the bleachers before she hesitated, and gave a catlike hiss. Too bright. Far too bright. She didn't like it at all. And she knew she was supposed to be dead. This was confusing. She didn't like being confused. This place was so weird.

-- where was this place? Hell?
