Musical stuff: Hairspray, Wicked and Mamma Mia
There's more promo stills out from the Hairspray movie remake, and I confess I find myself disturbed by Zac Efron's makeover as Link. He looks the part, certainly, and I do like that all the actors playing teenagers actually look like teenagers, but my mental image of Efron remains fixed on his stint in High School Musical and that may distract me from the rest of the movie.
Still, John Travolta/Christopher Walken? I am so there.
Besides, I like James Marsden now. Nice fella; he just keeps getting dodgy roles.

Stage photos of Kerry Ellis' first night as Elphaba! There's something wrong with the lighting or the camera, because her make-up looks greasy and weird in these photos, when other in-character pictures I've seen look okay.
A quick search of wikipedia revealed that Kerry Ellis does not have a page. So I made one. *dork*
Of note, among those pictures I've linked to above, there's one photo of Stephen Gately and his current partner. Woe, I was hoping he and that other boyband dude would stay together. :(

Okay, I totally forgot that they're making a movie version of Mamma Mia, which can either go the way of The Producers (bleh) or Chicago (INVENTIVENESS, YES), but I'm impressed that they've cast Meryl Streep as Donna. I don't know whether she can sing the part, but I can already imagine her in sparkly bellbottoms and platforms, so that's good.
