i'm happy to report part 3. 3 months later, dan found my ring. he was playing with penelope at the time; he said she, rather than go to him, made him come to her to pet her. and then he noticed something shining in the dirt. yep, my original ring that was lost.

i'm pleased the ring has gone forth & multiplied :). i'm only wearing one at the moment, and i'm gonna re-give the once-broken one to my friend. that way, i'll still have 1 back-up.
