i got a really sweet card from my secret pal the other day with some fun embossed, glittery cats on the cover. i noticed, on the back, that the card was printed in israel. interesting.
nice to get personal mail. *sigh*, i remember when i used to get a letter a day, at least, in the mail. also from washington state. weird. hrmmm, but that was eventually unhealthy, so i guess it's better to get mail less often.
but, i digress. let's go back to cats. i took the train into the city today, only to go back to brooklyn. i swear, williamsburg makes no sense in accessibility by train. brooklyn is technically on long island, so for me to have to take a train to manhattan to get there is pretty darn ridiculous. anyway, on the train today i saw someone with a pet carrier. then i heard a very insistant and contant: "mew", "mew", "mew", "mew" for the majority of that leg of the train. cute, but i think that kitten has issues.
i restarted john's scarf. i'm still not crazy about the acrylic yarn i'm using, but at least this pattern is easy to memorize - i'm doing the irish hiking scarf this time. it should go quicker. i also couldn't resist a copy of the current interweave knits. not that i don't already have too many patterns of things i want to make, but i splurged anyway. i never buy knitting magazines.
time for bed. it's gonna be a busy week. we're headed up to hillsdale, n.y. for the falcon ridge folk festival after work on wednesday.
