Yes, creating replica's is also considered taboo in my world. But it...had to be done. The world needed Ion's...my Daathic Fonic Arts.

Yes, a Fon Master must travel everywhere. I was also traveling up until my death.

I suppose it would be fair to presume that all considered, we're not in one place specific to any person's 'home', but rather in a central place to rule out any advantage any one of 'us' could have over the others. Not having anything like that, I wouldn't know whether it is the case or not. My thoughts were pertaining more to the fact that no one appears to know where we are. Geographical knowledge, and awareness of local cultures - if there is such a thing here - could ultimately prove more useful than any other skill.
