Well, when you feel alone, or uncertain, or you doubt things, it can help to get the thoughts out of your head, to look at them from someone else's perspective. Sometimes just having someone listen helps, sometimes hearing their thoughts can clarify your own.
Sometimes it's just comforting to have someone there willing to accept you.
