Massive media roundup

Wanted to do another holiday post, but am feeling a bit uncommunicative. Nevertheless - media roundup! This one goes back about three weeks.

- Finally saw Victor Frankenstein (on the plane, to which it was perfectly suited). I do think I would have been disappointed if I'd made a trip to the movies specifically to see it, but as a gap filler it ( Read more... )

I think Sherpa is an Australian production, so it's less likely to have got round overseas, but it's amazing. I think I've always found what goes on "behind the scenes" as or even more interesting than the "performance" itself sometimes, and that was certainly the case here (referring to the Sherpas vs climbers, not the documentary team in this instance *g*). Anyway, your day of tramping in a line doesn't sound that different when it comes right down to it. Again, not to take anything away from the genuine effort and ability involved in climbing Everest even with support.

I can totally see why Clue would be a comfort fave. Totally deserves its status as a cult movie. The sudden introduction of the secret passages almost made me cry with laughter - I'd forgotten them! *g*

EtE was really fun, very British in character I thought. I think there wasn't a lot of buzz over VF (which was directed by Paul McGuigan, I should have mentioned) just because it wasn't very, um, good. It didn't even open in the cinemas here in Australia. I do always like James McAvoy, though, even if his Frankenstein wasn't anything special to watch. And hee, I tried watching the first CA but drifted off partway, and haven't seen the second at all (there's a second?). But I think there's been enough general buzz, and the movie was laid out well enough, that I didn't need it at all (given my interest level, obviously - I'm sure I missed things, but nothing that messed with my experience).

Amazed (but appreciative) you got through it all XD
