Hurray! Dr. Grossbard is back! that had bugged me, too, Lily telling him to see a shrink when he mentioned one in intervention.
loved the inclusion of Feely and how clear it is that Barney's been *needing* this, bad.

I think if we all had a Feely the Share Bear to hug when we're down, our lives might be a little less complicated. =D

Hmm... I actually hadn't thought of that. Maybe his next session can be set after next week's episode? Make kind of an ongoing series thing out of it?

Oh, that was lovely, so well-written and a perfect continuation of last night's episode. My favorite line:

He shook his head in disbelief. “After all these years, he’s going to be the one to teach me how to live.”

Really great job. Lily is such a good friend, I can see her forcing him to see someone, especially if she found out about the tv-smashing.
And I too would love to see a follow-up session to this. =)

I'm actually seriously considering some kind of follow-up now. This idea literally came to me out of nowhere for this episode, and I think it might stand up well enough on its own, but... we'll see if next week's episode has any potential? I don't know what I'd come up with if left to my own devices for things Barney could talk about in his therapy sessions.

And I'm a sucker for stories that feature people in my future profession. Go Dr. Grossbard! I liked his technique of just letting Barney talk and him pretty much pretending not to be there.

Out of curiosity, have you seen the movie Antwone Fisher? Because that movie's basically all about the relationship between therapists and their patients, and we were discussing it in my class today, which might have been part of the inspiration behind this fic. Anyway, if you haven't already seen it, I recommend it.
