Oct 25 Music Box Massacre!!!!!!
So, I made it through another year of the 24 Hour Horror Marathon and I didn't fall asleep this time! I was fading in and out at times and I did the head bob thing when you're about to sleep but catch yourself so I made it and it hurt. On to the movies.

The Haunted House (12:00 pm)
My first Buster Keaton movie. I'm a bit on the fence when it comes to old movies, I either enjoy them for what they are or I just can't get into it at all. I enjoyed this one. It was silly and all over the place but I was entertained. I couldn't find a trailer or short scene from the movie, so here's the first 10 mins of the movie.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. (12:30)
This is an example of an older movie that I just couldn't get into. But I do think a lot of my focus was on people coming in and out of the theater and noises and such. We sat in the back row, like we always do and I had to sit next to the door so I can come and go when I needed to so I could take out the dogs. So the door by me either slammed when it closed of it stayed open and I could hear everyone in the lobby chattering. So yeah, it was meh.

The Old Dark House (1:45 pm)
Same as above. As much as I enjoy most of William Castle movies, this one wasn't quite working for me. I zoned out a lot.

Eyes Without a Face (3:00 pm)
I saw a poster for this movie at the Landmark Theater (a fancy place that plays foreign/indie films) a few years ago and I thought it looked interesting. I looked it up and saw that it was a horror movie and I had wanted to see if every since. I don't remember why I didn't put it on my Netflix or it may not even be available on dvd but anyway, I was pretty happy to see it on the line up. So when it started, I saw that it was a black and white French movie with subtitles. And do you know what happens when white subtitles are against a white background? Yeah, I could barely read anything throughout the whole movie. It was pretty annoying! Granted I could still follow what was going on but every time there was a scene where some of text was on the black part of a scene and the rest was against the white I kept thinking to myself... "WHAT?" I would have almost preferred it dubbed over. But aside from all of that, from what I could make of the movie, I thought it was pretty good.

May (5:00 pm)
Before the movie started we were told that Lucky Mckee was driving from Oklahoma to Chicago for the Q&A but he wouldn't make it till 10 pm so they would do the Q&A then and run the movie at the schedule time. But later that night they announced that Lucky could not make it but he wanted to come to Chicago again in the future. I was really looking forward to meeting him so it was sad.
Moving on, May is one of my favorite movies, but I went to go home to take care of my kids. My very first horror convention, Angela Bettis was there for May and in one of the screening room she was doing live commentary so watching it on the big screen could not topic as great as that experience. I came back just in time when shit starting going down so I didn't miss much.

This trailer is ass but the only decent one I can find has barely any sound so I guess this will have to do. I have to make it known that the movie is no where near as goofy or stupid as this trailer makes it out to be. This movie is pretty fuckin' amazing in my humble opinion and the end is one of the best, sweestest and powerful endings of most movies I've seen.
The Facts in the Case of Mr.Hollow- Short Film (7:00 pm)
This short was about a picture that at first looks like nothing special but it shows all the difference things in the background and such that we don't see at first. It was a little creepy so I totally dug it.
Midnight Meat Train (7:30 pm)
WelI talked about this when I first watched it on the first day of the challenge and I enjoyed it more the second time. On the big screen I saw all the stuff that I couldn't make out when I watched it at home and watching it with an audience is super fun. Clive Barker was there to present the film which was a great treat. I love the man. He even whipped up an original Pinhead drawing in his hotel room earlier that day to put up for an auction. Sadly, I did not have the 400 dollars to bid on it. I would love an original piece from his since his work is sickly twisted and totally awesome but one day some day. After the screening Clive was nice enough to sign autographs for 30 minutes before he had to take off for another event. I met him twice already in Burbank and L.A. but I never had my picture taken with him so even though they weren't allowing pics, he let me take one with him. I was in awe :) *girly squeal*
That's Clive and his Pinhead pic along with the bid winner.
I posted the trailer on the first day of the challenge so I thought I'd throw in a tiny scene from the movie. Ya'll, ahem, this is the kinda shit that gets me motherfuckin' hot!!!!

Friday the 13: The Last Chapter (10:15 pm)
Right before this movie started I wanted to go home to put my kids to bed for the rest of the night. On my way out, Rusty Nails (the host of all the Massacres and a friend of mine) stopped me and asked if I can help sell some of Clive's books before he had to leave. Of course I wasn't going to say no, even though I really wanted to take care of the dogs and be back before Friday the 13th started. So I stood next to the line where Clive's book where yelling "Books For Sale!" to everyone that was passing in line while doing my Vanna White hand guestures. Hey, I sold 3 books!!! I'm sure those people were going to buy the books anyway to get signed but still I like to think that I helped. Friday had already started so I decided to hold off on taking care of my kids till after the movie during the Joe Zito (the director) Q&A.
So I haven't seen this one in a while, but it's a damn classic. Corey Feldman and Crispin Glover! Can't beat that, especiallly after you see Crispin kick ass, rock your body, Dance, Dance Rev moves. (see below) I love seeing movies like this one with a crowd. When I grew up watching horror movies, it was on cable alone in my room and as I got older and was able to see these legally in a theater, the 80's were over and they just didn't make them like these anymore. But anway, it was good times.

Doesn't get any better than that.
After it was over there did a raffle which I had buy 5 tickets for, 4 tickets for the Masters of Horror Season 2 box set and 1 for a zombie painting and I won the painting. I seriously win something every time, the guys hate me. Haha, at the Scifi marathon I won the Masters of Horror season 1 box set and at Flashback I won a couple signed copies of Masters of Horror season 1.
So here's my cool painting. I don't know what I'm going to do with it yet but I have it sitting up on my dining room table.

After that was done, I got Joe Zito to sign my Friday box set then I ran home to take my kids out before "Dead Alive" started. There was no way in freakin' hell was I going to miss that!

Dead Alive (12:30 am)
Before Peter Jackson was well-know for doing the "Lord of the Rings" series, he did a little movie called, "Dead Alive" also known as "Brain Dead." This movie was know as one of the gorest movies when it came out. When it was released in theaters, barf bags were given out to people. Now that's awesome. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVVVVEEE this movie. This was really the one movie I was damn excited to see on the big screen. I love how animated and whismical. Towards the end of the movie I started to yawn a lot and feel a bit tired but I would have honestly rather set my fuckin' face on fire than to miss any bit of this movie.

Phantom of the Paradise (2:15 am)
This was my first time seeing this movie. I can't really say that this a horror movie or at least any kind of a traditional one. To me this was more like a cult film. It was damn entertaining and very lively so that helped keep me going. I enjoyed it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw8NcUKTZXY Black Sabbath (4:00 am)
I didn't feel like this movie was a good choice for this late in the night/morning. I went out for a smoke (cigar) to get some air and move around a little. Jerry and Rich joined me as Lyndell slept and we spent most of the movie outside smoking and talking. Due to the hour and my mental state, I couldn't get into this. I would have like to give it a fair chance, especially since it's a Mario Bava film but I just zoned out.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvqT1D7qvrc Pieces (6:00 am)
I bought this on dvd at Flashback and when I watched it I thought it was pretty awesome. Watching it as a new print on the big screen....more awesome! This is a pretty straight forward slasher flick with some awesome kills and mutilations.
I can't find an English trailer it doesn't quite matter.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqhRvIiQ_zw Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer (7:45)
I talked about this movie before when I saw it at the drive-in but this time was better because it kept me awake and people were seeing it for the first time so people were getting lively. Plus, I started an audience clap during one scene. Hehe I rule.

The Exorcist (9:30) The End!!!!
Here's another movie I don't have to say anything about. It rules. It was awesome to see it on the big screen but I was fading in and out throughout the movie. I never officially slept but I did the head bob thing a couple of times. It was pretty brutal but I had to stay awake for the good stuff.

When I got home I didn't go to sleep till around 1 in the afternoon and I woke up around 5:30. I decided to watch another movie despite my adventure so I watched William Castle's Homicidal. So here's a fun fact about this movie. When it came out Castle came up with an idea to add a "fright break" before the last 15 minutes of the film. When people would go see this in the theater, if they were too scared to watch the end, they could leave and get their money back. Well, people went and during the break, people got up and left to get their money back. Castle was utterly disappointed but he found out that people were going to one showing, sitting through the whole thing and staying for the 2nd showing. When the break came, people left to get their money back after already seeing the complete movie once. Castle decided to get smart and change the color of the ticket per showing AND he created this box called the "Coward's Corner" If anyone left to get their money back, they had to stand in this box which was right outside the theater and wait for everyone to leave so they can all see the coward. Gotta love the man.

Death Proof
The movie grows on me every time I see it but the tedious pointless conversations still bother me.

Carrie (remake)
It's pretty tame but I really like the direction the movie went into telling more of the story beyond the prom scene.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O60xLw64ufU OK I just re-wrote this three times already, I'm tired, till next time.
