Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon

Ok ya'll, this movie is one of the best horror films to come out in the past couple of years. I could have just hit up my long list of movies on my Tivo, but I got in such a mood to see this again and I just love it every time I watch it.

Leslie Vernon is ready to follow the lead of Freddy, Jason and Michael. In prepartion for his ground breaking moment in the world of slashers, he allows a documentary crew to follow him around while he plans and plots every intricate detail of his big scheme.

The crew are fasinated with all the work and planning it takes to be a notorious killer such as doing a lot of cardio so when your victim is running and you walk, you can still catch up with them. But as the time comes for Leslie's big moment, the crew are unsure if they can handle just sitting back while he kills a group of kids.

This movie is a bit like a mock-u-mentary in the way that they kind of poke fun of other serial killers such as Freddy, Jason and Michael, but they view them as real people and it show they are beyond the stupid villians we see them as in the movies. This movie captures the view point of the killer and I fuckin' love that. Leslie explains every action and reason behind the things the killers do and he really brings life to what we don't know about these killers. It's a great dissection of a typical horror movie only done with style and wit. I refuse to believe anymore can see this and not like it.
