Waiting up (tag Bruce, timed morning after Jason's attack on store)

Jan 25, 2011 17:00

The night had been quiet enough, a little too quiet to sleep without Bruce there, even though the other man almost never made a sound or unnecessary move once asleep.

Harvey supposed that he missed the sound of Bruce's metronome-steady breathing beside him, and as though Hugo read the lawyer's mind, their great dane jumped up on the bed, circling and settling in Bruce's usual spot before starting to snore.

Not quite the same thing, but nice try.

Instead of sleeping, Harvey stayed up, sitting in bed with the file Bruce had to put together on Jason, thinking and pouring over photos with dim, golden light spilling over his side of the bed from the nightstand lamp. His coffee had gone cold on the adjacent table, and he had the other man's heavy housecoat on over his pajama pants, not wanting to disturb Hugo in order to re-arrange the blankets for warmth as he worked.
