I duhno what the problem is. I might agree that it could be a dying modem, if it did this all the time. Since it is consistently doing it every 5 to 10 minutes on the weekends, during both normal day hours, and the midnight to 6am I am usually on, I don't think it is the modem's fault.
I tried the local angle you suggested, and Bob (the actual name he gave me) currently has a 24 hour line test on my line, but I honestly doubt I will have any of the problems in 24 hours. He did comment that I had called a good number of times, when he opened my account record. After I gave him the same story as usual, he assured me that I would get a call tomorrow that either nothing was found, or that a problem was found, and a tech needs to be sent out.
Oddly enough, thinking back, the problems seemed to start about the time you got your FIOS. I don't see how that would alter anything though.
I am apprehensive to pay Verizon more money for FIOS, if they can't even supply me with reliable DSL. Ben is paying for our Comcast tv, so I was thinking of giving them a shot if this problem cannot be fixed. The $42.99 Comcast charges for their interwebs is only slightly greater than the $39.99 I am paying for Verizon.
In any event, this is my last chance for Verizon. I have expressed my unhappiness about my DSL service to someone I can only hope was local. He saw the number of times I had called, and put into motion what he thought he could do on his side. If they cannot seem to fix this problem, that has been going on for months, I will be switching to Comcast. If they can fix this problem, which I really hope they can, I won't have to change.
