I got into Pittsburgh last night around 6:00 and I met my parents and my sisters for dinner. It's so strange not having my brothers in town for Christmas. My mom ism't here either. I talked to Justin for the first time since he left for Alaska. He sounds terrible. With good reason, though. His wife, Abby, seems to be getting worse and worse every day. In addition to her being blind in one eye, having lupus, leukemia, and a 2 year old all before the age twenty-two, the doctors found a lump in her stomach. I hope this lump business isn's serious. My parents are thinking of flying to Alaska soon, and they might take me with them. That would be sweet.
We woke up and had brunch around 10:00. We opened presents afterwords.
I took a nap from 3 or 4 until 6 when we started to eat. Wendy invited two families who had seven kids between them for dinner. Talk about pain. Strange kids, strange adults, and even stranger food. Some of it was alright. Although I must admit that my only saving grace through the whole ordeal was the rum punch. It was not very good, but it was strong. Also, there being so many people allowed me to steal away from the crowd and smoke two coveted cigarettes without being missed. Making my total cigerettes smoked since reaching my parents house a totatl of three. Gosh, I love the holidays!
My sister and I collaborated on an excuse to get us out of the after dinner party. The best we came up with was going to the shelter to feed the homeless. However, my parents are going shopping at 6:00 a.m. and need me to watch my three year old sister. SOoooo, needles to say, my escape was dashed right before my eyes. My sister, having to work, made her exit very expediently. She has to work in the morning. I get to babysit. Which, I'm a little excited about because I really do miss Morgan and it will be nice to spend some time with her without Wendy watching my every move.
In a wrap up:
worst present of the day:A tie between the triple x t-shirt with a sequent butterfly on it from my step-mother and the sequent mermaid on a stick my mother got me.
best present of the day:A tie between the Laura Ashley throw my step mother got me and the throw my mother got me.
It was a day of sequens and throws and I will never subject myself to that again. Next year, I am making a list so that I will be assured gifts I actually want and need.
