I just got back from the theaters... and let me say the movie in all is alright, looooove the feminist approche....it was about time!
Susan's EvilQueen-Maleficent was incredible... her costume, her powers, her anger.... loved it! But.... she only had about 5 minutes :(:(:(:(:(:(

I have to do a drawing of it... !!!

DEFINITELY needed more Queen Narissa in the film. She made me chuckle a few times, especially with her talking to Nathaniel through soups XD. Her design when she was animated was gorgeous and she sent chills through my body when she was the old haggard woman the second time trying to get Giselle to bite the apple. It was so upclose and in your face and uncomfortable that it was amazing. *I* wanted her to go away and I wasn't even there XD

Her dragon form was alright. She's no Maleficent, but it was pretty sweet for what it was. And I love her real world entrance when she came out the sewer. She was just ready to kick someone's ass XD

I love Susan. She is a great and powerful actress. And she is beautiful.

When she said through the martini glass "I will come there and kill the wretch myself!" I heard the power.

Oh and of course when she came through the sewer! Awesome. And then those kickass boots she was wearing :D

She was so cool.

She was probably one of the best parts of the movie. A bit short sighted, but when she had a goal she WENT FOR IT! LOL. I loved her design both in animation and in real life. Of course, Susan Sarandon is amazing!

Really though, I wish she had used her brain a bit more before exploding in anger. With a girl like Giselle, it's not hard to manipulate her or her handsome prince. "What? You want to leave the kingdom and never return? Well, if you insist darling...what's that? You want me to stay and rule as queen forever? Oh, I couldn't...but like you said, it is what's best for the kingdom. Bye now." Then she wouldn't have had to go risk getting killed herself.

Though I loved her attitude as the dragon.

By the way, i looove your icon!
You are right when you say she could've use her brain more. She got herself in situations that didn't need all of the dramatic...

Really? I mean, I've wanted to see the film anyway but that gives me more reason. =]
In what way did you think it has this approach?

Oh feminist is a big word for Disney, but still i think it contained things that are a nice start for that film industry. I can give you examples but they contain spoilers :

Through the whole movie, the woman waits for someone to help her. "My prince will come, i don't need to fight-search-run". It was driving me mad, but i knew it was a parody of the whole Disney roleplaying models. Towards the end, you can see Gisèle's character putting herself in a state of mind that pushes her to think by herself, to think for herself, to fight for herself and for the man she loves. Its like... the princess finaly notices she can do things by herself, with all her strenght and knowlenge. That she is able to. Still Disney.... But anyways, thats a part of feminist approche in the movie. :)

Thank you for that response; and I hope it means we begin to see far more female protagonists who can do things on their own.
