Did you happen to catch a glimpse of something… unusual on the L.A. freeways yesterday morning?
In preparation for D23 Presents: Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives, the Maleficent dragon head from Disneyland’s Fantasmic! nighttime spectacular was transported via truck from the resort to The Ronald Regan Presidential Library & Museum.
The dragon departed Disneyland at 6 a.m. and was on the freeways until around approximately 8:30 a.m. yesterday morning, when it was dropped off at the library in Simi Valley. The dragon will join more than 500 items on display during this special D23 exhibit, which debuts July 6th.
If you weren’t lucky enough to snag a photo of this momentous event for yourself, check out our photo of the 15 foot long Maleficent head as it cruises down the highway. You’ll be able to see it for yourself by attending the D23 event this summer, so don’t miss your chance!
Can you even imagine? I'd laugh so hard I'd promptly steer my car into an accident XD
Here's a close up on the ramp. And Rick Baker has designed the make-up for Angelina Jolie in Maleficent:
While speaking with seven-time Oscar-winning special effects makeup artist Rick Baker about his work on Men In Black 3, Coming Soon discovered that he is also involved in Walt Disney Pictures' Maleficent, which will star Angelina Jolie as the evil fairy from the animated classic Sleeping Beauty.
Baker said about Maleficent, "They're just starting that now. I designed the makeup for Angelina Jolie. At this point, I'm actually finished with that part of it."
