Hi! I've known about this community for a while but I only joined a few days ago. And then I decided I should probably introduce myself instead of lurking awkwardly like I normally do. :)
1. Favorite Disney villain(s) and why?
I think one of my big favorites is Ursula. She has a lot of style and flair, a great villain song, and a great voice ("And don't forget about body language, HA!"). I actually find her the most interesting character in The Little Mermaid because she's got cool witch powers, she wants to take over the ocean, and she used to live in the castle but was banished? (Which makes me think she and King Triton have history, if you know what I mean. ;)) I want moar backstory! She also looks awesome as both herself and as Vanessa.
I'm also a big fan of Gaston because he's so manly and stupid and mean but somehow kind of lovable. I really love the idea of having a handsome, dashing villain as a foil for a hideous, monstrous hero. He makes every scene he's in hilarious, except maybe the ones toward the end when he becomes more evil. But still there's got to be *some* humor at least in lines like "Take whatever booty you can find but remember the Beast is mine!"
I also love Frollo. When I was a kid, the meaning of the Hellfire song pretty much went completely over my head. Now, though, I see how it conveys really well his guilty conscience and his desperation (covered up of course by putting the blame on the woman and resolving to burn things) in a way that makes you feel kind of sorry for him. The movie version and the book version are really different but I feel the people behind the movie did a really good job at nailing the core of his character while moving him to be more of a straight villain than sort of a neutral character.
Finally, I have a soft spot in my heart for the Evil Queen from Snow White. I grew up with the Snow White movie, so she'll always be one of my favorite villains. I love how she can be so beautiful despite being covered head to toe except for her face and her hands. And I read an article somewhere that described that the real chilling part of her character is that she's so obsessed with being the most beautiful that she turns herself into an ugly hag just so that she can kill Snow White. It's like, pure cold determination -- she really will sacrifice everything she holds dear for the coveted title of "fairest in the land."
EDIT: I also have always liked Jafar. I like his red and black outfit, and his old guy disguise, and that horse he has at the beginning, and his really really long and skinny body shape and fingers. And his beard is just so... twisted...
So... yep, those are my favorites.
2. If you could meet them, what would you say to them?
Noooo idea.
3. What is your favorite Disney movie and why?
Beauty and the Beast. Great music, great characters, great visuals, great story. I always watch it and get sucked in to the magic of the Beast's castle and am sad when it ends.
4. Tell us one interesting thing about yourself
Uh... I dunno. I'm left-handed. And I recently picked up my hobby of drawing again. Yep, that's it. :)
