I prayed and prayed the night before.
I didn't want to wake up in the dark.
I woke up early and drank a cup of white tea and said one last prayer.
We put on our coats and headed down to the eye institute.

We arrived and I then took care of the final bits of red tape and then I waited
each agonizing minute. 9:30..9:31..
and then I noticed that I could watch the other surgeries.
i promptly went back to my seat
another prayer.
lord let me keep my eyes!
yes i was obviously a nervous wreck.
almost as bad as when i had to fly home through that hurricane.

my name was called. im up.
I apprehensively walk down the corridor to claim my assigned seat.
"sit down here please"
"heres a tab of vicodin"
thank you lord.
a few drops here and there and then i'm told to close my eyes and keep them closed
for "it will help with level of comfort for the retractors"
!
prayer.

Mr. Sanders, ready to go?
ok follow me.
"please have a seat on the chair"
"lie back"
"whatever you do don't move"
fsck!

"this is going to be a bit uncomfortable, here is a stress ball"
gee thanks
"mr. sanders please try to keep your eye steady"
they then placed some ring type device on my eyeball
"suction"
".31 steady"
my sight blinks out
i see a few stars...
then everything is beyond blurry
"please try to focus on one spot we're going to cut the flap"
coundown from 60 seconds.
grip stress ball.
repeat next eye.

"ok, follow me"
huh?
im taken to a room to stew for 15 minutes because there are bubbles.
bubbles go away and im ready to go
back on the table and my eye lids are taped open.
and go..
held steady as best i could on the amber light, 10 seconds each eye and I was done.
extremely blurry/hazy.
Kris then drove me home with me sporting my new space-age goggles.

I had to keep my eyes closed the rest of that 1st day. putting 3 different kinds of eye drop in each eye every hour.
the second day I could open my eyes with drops every four hours.

amazing
i feel like i have a childs sight again.
i have 20x20 vision again.
i find myself tripping out on everything around me.
blessed with eyesight and no pain.
just a little dry
but im told that will go away very soon.
im very glad that i had this done!
