Good one.

Now stop all those weird fangirls writing Winchest.

I'm begging you!

Winchest is hard to stop. Wincest even harder. I tried to stop them but so far it hasn't worked. My attempt involved superseding the fandoms mental image of Sam with that of myself. The desire to not see me involved in anything sexual showed great promise in those exposed. At least it was working until the harpoons were manned. Now I am avoiding attempts of killing me with fire. So far no attempts have been made to nuke me from orbit.

Alright smart arse, I spelt it wrong. :D

But seriously I avoided the program for three years because I caught the first few eps thought it was so, so, then read a few fan fics when my channel changed it to another channel I didn't get, and thought the show ended up being about two
incestous brothers.

Yowzers.

I mock when I can, I so rarely get the chance.

I don't think, though I could be wrong, that the majority of the fic out there is Wincest. I think it's mainly that that particular faction of the fandom is either the loudest or most notorious so they get put as sort of the public face of it.

The show is pretty fun. It has a self-awareness to it with winkwink and nodnods to fan that is a lot like The X-Files before it sucked and in the few non-suck episodes after it did suck. Last weeks ep of Supernatural especially.

My crappy channel dropped it one season before completion. But seasons 2 - 4 have two amazing character arcs (although it would help if Sammy could act), and the one with the writer who was writing their story? A laugh-riot. Plus the one where Dean gets turned into a coward.

They definitely work the humor in there without it being a complete eye-rolling mess like too many shows do that aren't outright comedies or dramadies.

Chuck, the writer of their story, is hilarious. He's definitely one of the best secondary characters. Especially since he isn't even a fan of his own work.

Yeah, it, Angel, Babylon 5, and SG-1 seem to do it best.

Yeah, he was good. Castiel really added a lot in the fourth year.

Castiel, the ultimate straight guy for humor on the show.

Considering the amount of slash Supernatural causes, it's nice to have a strai... oh crap, there's a lot of Cas slash, isn't there?

Dammit.

Probably, as I've said, I've run weeping from the Supernatural fan fiction world.

Every so often I summon up all my masochistic courage and venture into the fanfic world there. Though I'm slightly more safe because my main fic thing is to read crossovers. That helps cut down the slash... some.

What's scary is the amount of Psych/Mentalist slash. That I don't get. I don't dislike slash itself, I dislike that 98% of the stuff I run across (granted, since I'm not looking specifically for it I might just be finding all the crap) is horribly OOC. And lazy! Lots of lazy slash. Just a "Oh, these characters are gay." as an author note. WTF? Have some respect, you want the character to be gay you show how they got that way, you take the time to evolve the character to that point where a reader will buy it... but no...

... and that was an odd rant. I blame my lack of sleep. And caffeine. And sugar. I'm lacking a lot. Like looks and brains and... Mmmm brains... brraaaiiiinnnnnssssss

I'm reading a pretty good fic right now... It's a nice ST/B5 fic. There is a little tech wank, but the author keeps it balanced well and it's genuinely enjoyable to me. But my taste sucks, so... If you're willing to risk it, try Task Force 43.

You summed it up perfectly, really. But to not even try and explain why they're suddenly different is a slap in the face imo. Though if you're going to take a canon hetro character and make them "gay" I think you're better off skipping "Wow, suddenly I'm all into my own gender and the opposite is all icky." and go more the "Wow, I really like this person and am unexpectedly falling for them despite my previous heteroness." See, that's actually an interesting and possibly compelling story and something that would be extremely hard to pull off. Which is why most slash writers tend not to do it (from what I've seen (trying to avoid making too much in the way of blanket statements ( ... )

This one gets political. Plus the Feds have a rough encounter with the Vorlons. Ouch.

See. Cordy/Faith/Gwen does not need character evolution or explanation. It simply needs body oil, toys and a cheering section.

I stick with my 'ships, so I doubt I'll ever read a fic where slash is the main plot point so it's all pretty moot.

I've already stuff myself with garlic as well as wearing it. Hmm... garlic tablets too it seems.

I hate the way you have one fed going up against twenty Minbari ships and effortlessly destroying them all.

And the lectures.

Ugh.

"See. Cordy/Faith/Gwen does not need character evolution or explanation. It simply needs body oil, toys and a cheering section."

Now you're talking about PWP rather than a story, not that I'm complaining.

"FAITH! Will you let GWEN & CORDY out of their cuffs for just a second!"

"I stick with my 'ships, so I doubt I'll ever read a fic where slash is the main plot point so it's all pretty moot."

Yeah, I'm the same. If the ships don't interest me, I don't read.

"I've already stuff myself with garlic as well as wearing it. Hmm... garlic tablets too it seems."

Heh. Had Garlic Breadsticks for lunch yesterday.

Well, with shielding and armor on the Fed ships in, eh, Nemesis era or thereabouts, one could take on a good deal of the Minbari and win. Especially taking into account maneuverability and speed, plus sensors. It's not really wank. The thing is, the Feds when true to themselves will try any and all alternatives available to avoid having to destroy even one ship.

Gotta have some lectures, not just all splodey goodness. ;)

"Why let them out? I can get 'em naked without removin' the cuffs." *fabric rips*

"DAMMIT FAITH, that was Victoria's Secret!"

"Well now your secret's all exposed."

Yeah, ship either has to be compatible with my reading or something so unusual (but conceivable) that I can't help but read. Or, of course, a genfic.

Hrm, maybe that's what my meal yesterday lacked, garlic. Might go dig up some to add to leftovers. :)
