updates blah blah
Okay so I get that it's been a while since I've done... anything.
Last year I was in college, but not really. I took a smattering of courses at two different community colleges that didn't really require any effort or homework so I was able to dive into fandom with a fucking vengeance. Now I'm at an actual full-fledged university, and I'm double-majoring in Russian and... Biology.
The thing about a Bio major is that it's a LOT OF FUCKING WORK. That's really the only way to put it. It's hard to go from community college, to a summer of just hanging out and having absolutely no obligations, to this life of reading and online quizzes and projects and social life (thank god I love my roommates) and visiting home and a new job. So I'm going to be conspicuously more absent than I was last year.
I mean, I haven't even watched the TBBT premiere yet. A huuuuuge leap from this time last year, when I was in the midst of my TBBT/Paradox/S/P obsession, when I counted down the MINUTES to the third-season premiere.
It's really sad because I've missed fandom over the summer, and now I don't feel like I can fully rejoin it because I have to be like... a responsible and mature college student. It's also hard because I got to a point of S3 last year where I wasn't into it as much as I used to be, and it's kind of exhausting to dive back in again.
That being said, I'm still working on fic! It's taking longer than it used to, because of the aforementioned reasons, and also because I'm out of practice, but I'm working on it. It's about seven pages in, and I'm writing it very differently--I have it all out of chronological order at this point because for some reason it's easier for me to think of it in terms of specific moments instead of just sitting and hammering it out. And I still have another idea I want to get out, as well as what was SUPPOSED to be my BBBB (which btw is going to go through serious revisions because the beginning suuuuucks.) On the topic of BBBBs, I still need to read and review like, all of them. Fuck. I need a weekend to do this shit.
Anyhow. So. My sister's in England right now, studying at Oxford because She Is A BAMF, and I've been waiting for this package from her that was supposed to arrive last Friday. I got it today. It was the British version of POA and GOF!! I was squeeing like a fucking maniac. I keep going up to my roommates--"look look look! The dialogue is in single quotation marks. Instead of double. Isn't that AWESOME?!"
Our conversation when I got them was pretty funny.
So it turns out that she got me ALL OF THEM. BEST SISTER EVER FOR FIVE-HUNDRED, PLEASE. Although apparently this was the second package of two she's sent me, so the one she sent two weeks ago still hasn't arrived? D: Which sucks because it contains a first edition--first hundred or so--edition of COS.
Oh, and a another cap of what my drunk!pubbing!sister finds amusing.

Yeah yeah yeah I know tl;dr but I'm just so excited.
So I've been reading this blog called MarkReadsHarryPotter, which is this really funny guy who's been reading the Harry Potter series for the first time. He reads it chapter by chapter and reviews each chapter, and it's progressed from a, "hm, this is pretty interesting tone" to every other review being "SHIT JUST GOT REAL!" He's starting Deathly Hallows tomorrow, about which he knows no spoilers, so I'm really excited. I suggest you read it--it's addicting!
That's my first long post for a while. Now I have to go write an essay. Love and miss you all!
