AOL E-Card
Out of all the Valentine's Day Cards I recieved today, this was my favorite.
Actually, it was the only card I got today. It was animated, with Cupid spitting (more like sputtering drool), underscoring the text " ... hate it with passion."
I agreed with the message, regarding the commercialization of the holiday. When I was at the stationary store earlier today, I couldn't help but notice a touch of green amidst all the red Valentine stuff - it was some St. Patrick's Day goodies waiting in the sidelines ready to step onto the stage - probably tomorrow!
My day went quite nicely actually [sorry, no boycott, Roberta]. I made breakfast for my Mom - French toast with peach sauce and thick cut bacon. Later, for lunch I cooked up French onion soup, short ribs and artichoke salad. She ate heartily because I prepared it and was there with her. She just doesn't eat well enough when I am not visiting. She's stubborn . It's a problem with most elderly who find themselves living alone after years of connubial bliss end. This year will mark my parents' 58th anniversary, so it's hard for my Mom to be separated from my hospitalized Dad. And St. Valentine's Day makes it especially difficult.
Later, driving back to LA, I called an ex-girlfriend who's been going through a difficult divorce. We shared a few laughs about old times and our present life situations. If I had any of that French onion soup I made earlier I would have delivered it to her.
I seem to be on some kind of French kick today. Oh, that's right... zee French is zee language of love! Appropriate, mais non?
So, thank you, Roberta. Your Cupid card rounded out my day nicely, with a laugh. Hope you had a happy VD by the day's end, too. ; )
