I'll detail the two parties I attended this weekend, in turn.
1) March Breaks would've been cool if THERE WERE PEOPLE THERE! There were people standing at the bar, and a couple tables with people sitting and drinking. For all I know nobody was even there for the music. I had invited several people to go, but due to this, that, and the other thing, nobody could come, save my one friend who I was supposed to meet there at 11 o'clock. I had arrived just after 10 so I got some food at the adjacent McDonald's and chilled out 'til ~10:30.
So back to where the story started: the place was barren. Absolutely no one was dancing except this one older lady, and I was thinkin' "that's cool; it's great to see older people enjoying this stuff". I was just sitting at a table, enjoying a very overpriced beer, and she asks me if I dance. At first, I politely declined, but later on she tried to start conversation with me again, so I figured "whatever, I'm bored anyways" so I went over to the table at which she was standing.
Turns out she was completely out of her mind!
She was running her mouth about how she just got out of 25 years in prison so she needed a man (yeah okay). She asked if I was there alone or what and I said my "girlfriend" was coming at 11. That didn't seem to inhibit her too much. She was quite insistent on dancing with me; she grabbed my hand and tried to pull me out on the floor but I sternly declined. She went around bothering other patrons for a bit, and I took this opportunity to fervently check my watch (almost 11... where are you Ananta?!). Just after that, this woman decided to leave, but not before asking me to go home with her and fuck her (gross). I just politely declined, and she didn't give me any trouble about it. Shortly after, Ananta arrived, so we just hung out, enjoying the music and a couple drinks, and I made sure to tel her about everything she missed. She was disappointed to have missed this crazy lady XD

As for the Saturday night event... "Unleashed", sponsored by Monster and brought to us by mEDM (McMaster Electronic Dance Music) and AEPi (didn't know what the hell this was; turned out to be some fraternity o.o) was an absolute disappointment. Well, I guess "disappointment" suggests that I had hopes for it in the first place. It was a generic bump'n'grindfest like I coulda found at any other club. The music was basically Top 40 with electronic basslines thrown on top (or do basslines technically go on the bottom?). There was a second room, in which some trancy bs was being played, but NOBODY was in that room. All in all, I find mEDM to be pretty pathetic as far as being an organization that's actually about the music. If the attendees are actually interested in the music and not rubbing their body against people of the opposite sex, then...
1) There woulda been people in both rooms
2) The biased sex ratio would'nt've been an issue
3) The event flyers would've actually mentioned musical genres (see a couple entries ago for the flyers)
4) There would'nt've been such a friggin' slut-and-douche patrol (I counted at least 5 popped collars, and I did overhear a few guys talkin' like they were "the fuckin' man")
I spotted my friend Aaron there. I knew it wasn't his sort of thing, and sure enough, he was dragged there by his lesbian friends. After I got tired/bored of dancing, I hung out with Aaron, making fun of how overwhelmingly "straight" the event was. His one friend became a drunken mess and threw a cup of water at the bouncer and got kicked out. We and his friends totalled 6 people, so we were gonna take a van-cab home, but his 4 friends sort of darted off into a car-cab, so he and I just split a cab home between the two of us. I didn't care; I just wanted to leave, and the friends with whom I arrived had intended to stay 'til 4am (yeah... no).
I got home at like 2:30, watched Daria with Jed, and went to sleep

The morals of the stories are
1) A poorly attended party can still be fun. Just sitting and talking with good music in the background is just as good as dancing. Ananta put it quite well when she said "I can tolerate drunk people; I can tolerate stupid people; but the one thing I can't tolerate, is bad music"
2) mEDM sucks. Never again.
