Splash Woman = Sarah Palin

Nov 23, 2008 12:22

The year is 2008.  Dr. Wily is trying to take over the world.  These days, it has become more and more acceptable to slander one's opponent, and Dr. Light is accused of some terrible things.  Rest assured, Dr. Light's loyal followers know that he would never do such things.

And because it is the year 2008, things have become a lot more progressive.  For the first time, Dr. Wily has a black robot running against him (at least in the underwater levels, if you get hit by the octopus robots' ink attacks), so he decides to up the ante on his side, as well.  He calls up Splash Woman, and offers her the position of one of the 8 Robot Masters.  Of course she accepts; who wouldn't want to be the world's first female Robot Master?  Is the MegaMan universe really becoming such a place of equality? With black and female robots in positions of power?

The unfortunate twist of this story is that, although Splash Woman was made a Robot Master, she actually had very little actual battle experience. In concert with her predictable and easily maneuverable battle strategy, she also took double damage from the Mega Buster.  She essentially provided a "point of entry", through which MegaMan could easily begin dismantling the Wily campaign.

Although he was ultimately defeated, Dr. Wily was able to save face and and escape.  It least he had a woman to blame for his demise.

I do prescribe to the belief that McCain pretty much knew he was going to lose, and in order to save face for the Republican Party (because losing to a black man is apparently the quintessence of shame), he appointed a woman who might (sub)consciously be blamed not for her inexperience, but for her ovaries.
