Life, Back on Track

Jul 10, 2008 21:46

After a couple hectic weeks of guests, AC, and more guests, life seems to be slowing back down to the usual summer drawl...
...which I don't mind one bit!  ^__^
No offense to you guys I've been hanging out with; the time spent with you was a blast.  It's just that I'm the kind of person who needs a LOT of time to himself.

Over those past two weeks I was really slacking with the gym, and it feels great to be getting back to that.  I've also been reading a lot lately.  The three books I'm reading right now are The End of Nature, The End of Food, and Endgame (which is about the end of civilization)

My mom says I need to stop reading all these depressing books
I says "hey, if you can find a non-depressing book about the world we live in today, I'd love to read it"
I'm fairly certain that life as we know it will be ending much sooner than we'd wish.  Part of me tries not to think about it, yet another part of me craves to know about all these frightening things that are going on.

I've always like disturbing things, but disturbing non-fiction strikes a little deeper than disturbing fiction.

Also, my insect textbooks came in!!  They're friggin' HUGE!
800 page info text + 800 page picture guide = one happy entomologist

I have to prepare a seminar on insect vision before I leave for my field work (August 10th).  It's kind of weird having homework when I haven't been to a class or seen a teacher in over two months.  I hope I get around to it soon >.<

OH!  I got a shoutout on KnotCast from the esteemed Zapnut!  Check out Episode 16, you'll only have to listen to the first few minutes to hear my feature, but srsly it is a very funny podcast.

Enough random babble for now.  Thanks again for reading!
