Folks just want to let people know that I probably won't be online as much for the next few weeks.  The power cord for my laptop is more or less useless.  For the last few weeks, my cord will power my computer but it won't charge the battery.   I know it's not the battery as I used the power cord from my brother and uncle's laptops and it charged ( Read more... )

Your laptop may need more power than your adapter puts out - this is most likely the case if your adapter is like burning when you use your computer normally. You should check the output. Although, since you're getting a new one for your model, this is probably all mute.

Also, I fried a wire in an adapter cord of mine once and had to solder it back together again to get it work. Something might have gone wrong in the cord itself.

Anyway, have a good week and I hope you get a better cord.

That actually is exactly what's happening. When I was trying to use the computer and pulled out the tip, the tip was really hot and so was the computer. I'm pretty sure that the poor connection fried something because of the sliding parts. Note to self, never use an electronic device that has removable parts for a key component.
