Hello, 2011.
This semester has been the best semester I have ever had. I'm currently enrolled in Studio Production II, Intro to Computer Graphic Design, Film and Literature, and Intro to Journalism. I love all the classes, and I've been getting good grades in all of them. I've also become much more involved in
Christian Fellowship, the club here on campus. I'm playing guitar and leading worship songs every Tuesday night here, and recently, I've been attending executive board meetings on Mondays nights too. Thursday nights I have my guy's small group Bible study/hang out time, with the 6 of us and Greg. Last week 3 new people came. Amazing! Sundays I've been working with the youth group at
MetroWest Vineyard Church across the street. We'll do Sunday school, and then youth group in the afternoon, and I'm a part of a worship community group thing on Sunday nights. With Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday booked with other activities, I'm left with Monday, Wednesday, and Friday/Saturdaybutnotreally to do homework, shower, eat food, etc. God has blessed me in so so many ways this semester. I am without a doubt having the most blessed semester ever. And to think, all I had to do was give up doing things for me, and to focus on what God wanted me to do in others' lives to experience this kind of satisfaction and joy. Love.
This summer I'll be the Woodsmen Section Chief at
Deerfoot Lodge. This is a pretty significant role change for me at Deerfoot, and I didn't really know if this is what I was going to end up doing this summer or not. I'll miss the weekly hikes, teaching at Riflery, and being able to watch campfire. Mostly getting out of camp and the weekly hikes and cooking on the trail. and hanging out with campers. Man, Deerfoot Lodge is one amazing place. I kinda felt like God was nudging me toward a leadership position there, but I was hesitant, and I felt that if I were offered a role, then He definitely wants me in a leadership spot, and that I should take that opportunity. This is going to challenge and stretch me probably more than any other summer I've ever had. Let's do it.
In other recent news I decided to add a minor in Journalism to my degree, majoring in Communication Arts with a concentration in Visual Media Production with a minor in Journalism. I think it makes me more marketable as a prospective employee, and I'll get my writing abilities worked and stretched. I haven't had to do much writing in recent times. This also means I'll be here for an entire school year next year. 5 years of college should just about do it for my bachelors degree. Wow. five years. I'm okay with it.
I'm finally being used to help others and things are just falling into place left and right.
