Of course now that I have a huge pile of business ethics essays to mark I suddenly find time to blog. Hmmmmm. Braced myself for nasty weekend of marking with kitty therapy courtesy of Todal and Angel episodes courtesy of Extemporanea ( Read more... )

It's not even her ridiculous outfit, it's the way the whole episode is predicated on that stupid patriarchal concept of the dangers of uncontrolled female sexuality. Regardless of the fact that the controllers of the women are depicted as the bad guys, it still perpetuates that horrible stereotype, embodied literally through the fantasy format. Makes my teeth grind, it does.

You completely don't dress like a tomboy, I fail to see your mother's point.

Part of the reason I don't dress more like a tomboy is that my mother persists in buying clothes for me. It's an ongoing battle, when I was little my favourite thing to wear was my superman costume, she kept buying me Barbies. The most approval I recieved recently was for correct application of eye make-up :)

Your work style seems pretty un-tomboyish too.

And Bai Ling is wearing very little? I ... should maybe get round to watching Angel at some point ...

Just what are you implying!

I guess I go through phases :)

If you want to see Bai Ling wearing very little just look at any photo of her ever taken, she is famous for nipple flashing. There are much better reasons to watch Angel.

I'm implying that your work clothing is ... uh, professional yet feminine. And that you look very good.

There are better reasons to watch Angel. For naked Bai Ling, there's Playboy.

I hear...

I fail to see the attraction of Bai Ling, and it's not 'cause I is a girl. She is just...yuk

I was sooo jealous of your Barbies, my parent were too poor and had other priorities, like food...

I buy my daughter them now with lots of shoes...
