Jeremiah 18:1-12
The word which came to Jer-e-mi'-eh from the Lord, saying,
Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand. O house of Israel.
At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;
If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judag, and to the inhabitatnts of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.
And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every onedo the imagination of his evil heart.
God is the potter
-He knows your imperfections, your sins
God will not throw you away, no matter how marred you are, or the imperfections in you.
Look and see that God still loves us. He still wants to make us beautiful. See how much He has given to us.
~God wants to mold you into what He wants us to be, not what we want to be.
The problem with the clay [us] is SIN.
God won't change us against our will. He wants to change you for what you were made to be, but unless you allow God to do so then He cannot.
He sees the sin, no matter what you do to hide it.
-God doesn't want us to remain an unformed piece of clay.
-God will mold you until you're perfect in His eyes.
He knows...
...your sins
...your actions
...your addictions
...what you're hiding
...what you love more than Him
"I want to reshape you." ~God
God never gives up on the clay [you].
Can God do what he wants with you, today?
-Is he able to change you into who you're meant to be? Or are you fighting against him as the hardening clay fights against the potter who tries to mold it?
You can't stay the same if God comes unto your heart and changes you. You cannot live the same way.
Are you willing to let God work out your flaws and imperfections?
Are you willing to surrender all to Him? So that you can become what He wants you to be?
-Are you just playing church? If God came now, would you go to heaven or will God say; "I never knew you"?
