Daily The Mary Sue - 2/26/2014

Feb 26, 2014 12:48

'Cause I like a lot of the below.
--------

Game of Thrones Character Posters Promise Us That "All Men Must Die." Oh, Good.
Or, in High Valyrian, "Valar Morgulis." Can't we get posters that say "All men must pet puppies and eat ice cream cake?" The characters of Game of Thrones need a break. Except Joffrey and Littlefinger. They can die.

The Game of Thrones Twitter account shared 18 of these characters posters-of Arya, Tyrion, what Starks are left, the usual bunch-yesterday, and they've revealed a few more this morning. Daario and Melisandre, to be specific. We'll keep adding more as they get shared, so check back.

Sony To Release A Spider-Man Film Every Year, Assumes Anyone Cares
Also: A new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and confirmation that director Marc Webb will be returning to direct a third Spider-Movie. Hopefully he won't pull a Raimi and turn in something completely awful. But even if he does... seriously, does anyone care about this series?

Black Milk's Game Of Thrones Collection, For All Your Overthrowing Needs
Black Milk only recently put their Batman collection up for sale and they've already debuted their next nerdy pick-up - HBO's Game of Thrones! It's predictably Stark and Targaryen heavy but there are a few other houses representing as well (Rebecca takes specific issue with their Dragonstone jersey becauseshejustlovesStannisok?). Take a look at the new tops, dresses, and leggings up for offer on March 11 (AEST).

The Falcon Finally Gets an Honest-To-God Character Poster
Not one for international markets that may or may  not be fan-made. Not one from Japan where he's in the background. An actual, legit, I-am-the-center-of-attention character poster for one of the MCU's very few characters of color.

Some new promo pics of the Falcon, Black Widow, Winter Soldier, Maria Hill, and (naturally) Cap are also out. Check those out behind the jump.

The Mary Sue Interviews Kate Leth, Writer Of Boom's Adventure Time Vol. 3: Seeing Red
Kate Leth has become one busy woman. Not only has she stepped into the publishing sphere with work for Adventure Time and other Boom! Studios properties, she’s also been producing a set of her popular comic series Kate or Die for ComicsAlliance. That’s not all;  there’s the collaboration with high-profile podcast Welcome to Night Vale and the founding of an international group of female comic-shop workers, appropriately named The Valkyries. But given the success of the charming, highly personal, and indisputably cool Kate or Die, it’s no wonder she’s involved in so many upcoming projects. Now she’s stepped into the role of graphic novel writer and teamed up with artist Zach Sterling to produce a full-blown Adventure Time story all about everyone’s favorite rock n’ roll vampire queen, Marceline, for Boom! Studios. We had a chance to talk with her about the upcoming graphic novel, how she has no time for "hateful garbage," and more.

Everybody Wants To Rule The World In This Game Of Thrones Season 4 Fan Trailer
Youtuber Lady Dog Trailers took clips from that awesome 15 minute Game of Thrones preview and set them to Lorde's cover of "Everybody Wants to Rule the World." There's a few wonky moments but overall the effect is pretty great and has me even more excited for April 6th.

Teen Wolf Recap: Echo House
The only Teen Wolf episode to get a "viewer discretion is advised" warning at the beginning of it, because there's some creepy mental institution stuff and also because "Echo House" kind of sucks.

Do You Want to See a Woman In a Pretty Pink Dress and Heels Break Tiles With Her Head? I Thought So.
The woman in question is Japanese actress Rina Takeda, who has a black belt in karate. Those roofing tiles never stood a chance.

Behind the cut you'll find a making-of video, and while I'd normally scoff at the idea of a credit card commercial, or any commercial, getting one of those, this time it's understandable. You won't understand any of what's being said if you don't speak Japanese, but skipping to 1:50 will give you two more angles on Takeda's tile breakage. It's the universal language.

New Farscape Movie, Sci-Fi Show For Peter Dinklage Are In the Works
An article on if.com.au broke the Meh, no big news that Farscape writer/co-executive producer Justin Monjo is writing a movie spin-off of his cult classic sci-fi show. Oh, and he’s also working on a sci-fi pilot called The Beasts of Valhalla for HBO, and Peter Dinklage is in talks to star.

You know. Boring stuff like that. Who cares about a Farscape sequel? I'm kidding, please don't kill me.

We're Really, Really Excited For Vikings Season 2 [VIDEO]
Rebecca got me into History's Vikings after telling me it was not, as many believe, a Game of Thrones copy, and describing its awesome lady characters. I quickly fell down the Season 1 hole and started absentmindedly braiding my hair like Katheryn Winnick's Lagertha. Season 2 premieres this Thursday at 10/9c (full episodes of Season 1 are on History's site if you want to catch up) but History was nice enough to send The Mary Sue screeners of the first few episodes. Rebecca and I are currently fangasming out with each other and will have more coverage soon. Until then, check out this cool teaser History put together which includes all the main characters and a brief look at a new addition, King Ecbert, played by none other than Bruce Wayne's dad, Linus Roache.

Disney Announces Their Own Streaming Network With Over 400 Titles
For a long time, there was a severe lack of Walt Disney Company titles on Netflix. Then slowly but surely, deals started being made and the classic animated films began popping up in my queue. I was very happy, as I'm sure others were. But today, Disney has announced their very own streaming service for a slew of titles launching with their latest hit, Frozen.
